Brownswood Recordings are turning 10! Organising a series of one-off events, the label are also releasing two celebratory compilations. One of those two, Brownswood 10 Versions is a collection of 10 covers by Brownswood artists — one for each year of its existence. Sourcing music from Brownswood artists past and present, the compilation is testament to the label’s diverse, multifarious legacy. Preceded by a best-of compilation celebrating the breadth and depth of the label’s catalogue, this release takes a different tack: a limited edition, vinyl-only release, it’s a cross-section of the forward-facing, eclectic approach that’s guided the label’s music policy. In particular, the cross-pollinating disciplines of jazz music which can now be heard filtering through the new wave of jazz acts coming through in London.
